In 1962 graduated from the faculty of power engineering of LPI with a degree in «Refrigeration and compressor machines and installations».

He worked at the RNP «Krasnodarenergoremont» as an engineer (1962); at the Krasnodar cotton and paper mill as a foreman, head of the compressor refrigeration station (1962-1966); in Lenniihimmash – as a senior engineer (1966-1967).

After graduating from graduate school LPI (1967-1970) works at the Department of «Compressor, vacuum and refrigeration engineering» Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. He held the positions of M. SC. (1970-1973), S. SC. (1973 – 1979), associate Professor (1979 – 1993). Since 1993 is a Professor of the «CVRE»Department. Since 2019 is a Professor at the Higher School of Power Engineering.

In 1971 he defended his PhD thesis, in 1993-doctor of technical Sciences.

He trained at the Institute of turbomachines at the Technological University of Hanover, Germany (1973-1974, 1983), participated in international conferences.

A.V. Zuev is a specialist in gas dynamics, dynamics, strength and shaft seals of turbocompressors.

Professor Zuev performed a series of studies of centrifugal compressor impellers in order to develop a method of their design for a given velocity distribution.

For the first time, detailed experimental studies of oil end seals with floating shaft rings of high and ultrahigh pressure compressors were carried out.

New data on hydrodynamic, thermal, deformation and dynamic processes in seals with floating rings are obtained. A unique experimental base for the study of shaft seals at pressure up to 100 MPa has been created.

Anatoly Vasilyevich is the author of more than 100 scientific works, including 15 manuals, 6 inventions, 5 patents (USA, England, France, Sweden, Italy). He prepared 6 PhD and one doctor of technical sciences.

A.V. Zuev was awarded the sign of the USSR Ministry of education «for excellent success in work» (1985) and the sign «Inventor of the USSR» (1984). He has the honorary title «Honored Professor of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University», 2008.
